Dance troupe
Ibdaa's renowned dance troupe
of ten boys and ten girls has perfomed in festivals
and events in Palestine and more than ten countries
around the world. Through traditional folkloric dance
and theater, the troup depicts the history and aspirations
of Palestinian refugees.
Ibdaa has produced three generations
of dance troupes. Youth are involved in all aspects
of the production, from stage management, choreography,
lighting, sound, dance performance, and public speaking.
When one group graduates, they take on the responsibility
to train the next.
While the first
generation of dancers has moved on to university studies,
the second generation performed this summer for the
last time as a group in the USA. The third generation
of dancers toured Sweden and Greece this year; they
and the second generation are now training approximately
60 youth for the fourth generation. They are currently
working to develop a new set of performance pieces.
