Women's Committee
Ibdaa has an active
women's committee that meets regularly to organize
programs and projects specifically for the benefit of
women in the camp. These include managing the Ibdaa
Nursery which
provides childcare for working mothers with young
children, hosting workshops and forums on topics such as
health and human rights, and skills training classes
such as literacy, English language, and computer skills.
Recently the women's committee started a fitness
training program that meets three afternoons per week
for aerobic exercise.
The women’s committee
runs a
women’s
embroidery cooperative that provides income to 50
women from disadvantaged families in Dheisheh. Women sew
traditional Palestinian embroidery (tatriz) which Ibdaa
markets here at our guesthouse and overseas.
If you are living in the
US and are interested in purchasing embroidery from
Ibdaa please contact Middle East Children’s Alliance
